A haiku is the shortest poem not only in Japan but also in the world. It often compared with a sonnet. The format of a haiku is 5-7-5 syllables. Haikus generally deal with nature and sometimes have a heavy influence from Zen Buddhism.
This book has 15 masterpieces arranged by seasons. All of them are famous and traditional, composed by Basho, Issa, Buson, Chiyojo and so on. With emotional illustration, even young children can appreciate them sufficiently.
